The 815 Region Steelheaders are a local chapter of Trout Unlimited serving anglers and conservation-minded members of our community. Our chapter works to promote the protection, restoration, and enjoyment of coldwater fisheries and the watersheds that support them.
We believe healthy waterways benefit fish, wildlife, anglers, and the communities around them. Through conservation projects, community involvement, education, and volunteer efforts, we work to make a positive difference for our local fisheries.
The 815 Region Steelheaders Chapter of Trout Unlimited conserves, protects, and restores coldwater fisheries and watersheds throughout northwest Indiana. We work with communities, landowners, agencies, conservation organizations, and anglers to improve stream habitat, water quality, fish passage, riparian areas, and natural fish reproduction. Our efforts focus on native and wild trout, steelhead, salmon, and other aquatic life while addressing warming water, sediment runoff, erosion, pollution, low flows, habitat loss, and invasive species. Through science-based restoration, education, monitoring, advocacy, and volunteer projects, we seek practical solutions that strengthen rivers, streams, wetlands, tributaries, and Lake Michigan. We are committed to protecting clean, healthy, and productive waterways for fish, wildlife, and future generations.
